Apr 2019: Helen Cook

With the start of the spring marathons, April was a cracking month for fantastic achievements. After months of intense training throughout the winter, so many athletes are worthy of recognition for their results. However, I must pick just one for this accolade who has totally wowed me with their superb progress.

This lady is a regular on club nights and certainly gets the miles in when a challenge is scheduled. Taking on her second marathon, she has trained like a Trojan and been a supportive and inspiring focus for her club mates too. Taking on some races along the way such as the Berko half and the Hillingdon 20,this lady has come on leaps and bounds and seen the fruits of her labour finishing her races strong and with great results. I have been very impressed with how much quicker she has got and that is testament to the commitment invested in her training. Last year, at her first marathon in London, she achieved a very respectable time of 4:42: Again at London this year, she stormed to the finish line in a superb 4:19:40; a PB by a huge 23 minutes. Helen Cook, you are totally brilliant and a very worthy winner of member of the month.
