Advice for Female runners:
Hope you’re all OK (as far as we can be) and managing to keep running.
I just wanted to raise awareness, particularly to all you ladies out there, about safety. Having been out running early myself for a few days this week, it’s noticeably quiet on the roads both in terms of lack of walkers/runners but also traffic; unfortunately in this climate it does pose greater risk; opportunists are more likely to strike.
Please consider your route (built up areas and open stretches with good visibility best) and make sure you are running in daylight (sunrise by 5.50 am now if you need to get it done early!)
Also vary your route each run (reverse it or change it slightly) so you aren’t always passing the same spot at the same time.
It certainly has had much more of an uneasy feel than it usually does running solo this week and sadly those to be wary of will be aware of reduced traffic. Let someone at home know your route and the time you expect to be home and carry your phone if you can.
